Brady, Ronna, Mom & myself were playing a dice game called Bunco…
Brady said “Oh Please God, help me win this game!”.
I told Brady, “God doesn’t play dice so I don’t think he’ll help you much.”
Brady says “Dad, in heaven you can do anything you want…except stripping!”
I gotta link up to my buddy Sean’s plane building blog. He is building his own 4 passenger plane and if you get some time check it out. It has a pretty detailed “progress report” as well as an overview of the project and links to parts suppliers and other builders. I took a little liberty and leeched his picture of an example finished plane.

Took the picturesque trip to Hillsboro on Saturday. Belmont took it to the 2nd ranked Tigers and pulled out a 14-0 victory. The first half the Braves drove up and down the field but couldn’t put the ball in the endzone. Luckily the defense was stiff all day long. The second half we capitalized on a suspect call by the Hillsboro coach. Still a scoreless tie, and with a 4th and 1 on their own 29 and they went for it. I doubt they had 50 yards of offense at that time. Needless to say Belmont stopped them and proceeded to score their first TD which really signalled the last chance for Hillsboro.
The heroes for the day had to be Tyson, Jake and Elliot on offense; the whole team on defense. Tyson really had some big plays including a ~15 yard scramble on 3rd and 11 at the Hillsboro ~30. That kept the drive alive for the 2nd TD. He then made a great run for the 2 point conversion for the final nail in the coffin. Tys had been making great punt returns all day also. Elliot & Jake were just flat out powerful. Very strong up the middle and then Elliot would get outside on them. Never broke a long one but had plenty of the 5-10 yard variety. The defense was unbelievable. Hillsboro had a pretty high powered offense coming in; averaging 35 points per game. The Braves didn’t give them anything all day. Really kept things bottled up including some great special teams stopping the kick returns and downing punt deep. Plus Elliot had a kickoff that went through the endzone!
This coming weekend we play Potosi who ripped DeSoto. This will be a very good game. Potosi & Belmont are both peaking at the right time of the year and the last 3-4 meetings have been close.
So Saturday it’s Fennimore @ Darlington 1PM, Poynette @ Lancaster 4PM, & Potosi vs. Belmont @ I-G @ 7PM. You gotta be one tough motherfucker to take in all three. So you better gas up the car and start carbo-loading now.
Belmont ended up 3rd in conference this year at 6-2 behind Pec & River Ridge. Needless to say they will not have to play either in the playoffs since they are D6.
The playoffs started Tuesday with Belmont hosting Seneca from the Ridge & Valley. Belmont won 42-6 in probably their easiest game of the year. Sid played well again. In the 2nd half he put a nice hit on a guy, popped the ball loose & recovered it. Saturday they play @ Hillsboro. Could be a tough game but I think Belmont has a real chance. The nice thing is that Belmont seems to be the healthiest they’ve been all year and are playing their best ball.
One thing I do need to mention from the Tuesday game. In the 2nd half I was at the south endzone talking with Dave Gill. All of a sudden I hear someone yell “Do it again, Brady!”. The next thing I see is Brady running in front of the Belmont bleachers inducing the wave. Classic Brady.
The other day Brady tells me:
“Dad, when ever Ty comes over to play Ren grabs his arm and goes like this ‘Uh..Uh..Uh..Uh’ (picture Quagmire).”
*sheepishly* “I think he’s ‘humping’ him? When dogs hump, is that like people’s hugs?”
I reply “Sort of”
Brady then extrapolates “Well Ren must really like Ty because he really likes to hug him. Dad, if you would be really nice to Ren he would probably hug you more.”
Looks just like his Dad! (In his pajamas in the middle of the day)

Hey, Diddle, Diddle
The cat and the fiddle,
The cow jumped over the moon.
The little dog laughed,
To see such a sport.
And the dish ran away with the spoon.
“This nursery rhyme is a true story. There was a cat and a fiddle fell on him. It scared the cow so much that he jumped over some water that had a reflection of the moon in it. The dog laughed because it was funny and he thought the cow was good at sports because it could jump over the moon. The dish and spoon didn’t really run away, they were just laying on the counter and when the cow jumped it shook the counter and made them fall together.”
